I agree. Being asked about it by Gotham Schools and saying the way the DOE was using her framework was a "no-no" is hardly publicly rebuking what they are doing. She should clearly, loudly and forcefully denounce the DOE. Somehow I don't think she will.

She's making a ton of money. Every teacher in our school (about 200) was given a copy of her book (Implementing The Framework For Teaching In Enhancing Professional Practice), retail value $79. As far as I know so was every teacher in the 33 PLA schools. That's about 3000 teachers in total. Ok, maybe the DOE got a bulk discount but still something stinks about this.

danielson has already come out and said that her rubric was never intended to be used as an evaluation piece. it was meant for teachers to use for reflection and their own development and NOT as a way to determine who was effective and ineffective. in fact, neither the DOE nor the UFT have bothered to attend any trainings offered by danielson's organization, either. so danielson really isn't making any money off of this.

Let me rephrase, I think this turnaround plan is Bloomberg's way of trying to force the UFT to accept the "no appeal" part of the new teacher evaluation scheme. I have zero faith in the UFT, they will cave....as usual. In the meantime Charlotte Danielson is probably laughing her way to the bank.

UFT does not need to be forced back to table, as it was DOE that walked out. UFT, in fact, is trying to force DOE back via PERB. I'm very sorry you have to go through these threats and intimidation. This is what happens when leaders ignore laws and presume divine privilege.

I teach at one of the transformation schools, and yes, it sucks. There was a big meeting on Friday regarding Bloomberg's plan to turn all 33 PLA schools into turnaround schools by September. This means that 50% of the entire staff is gone. I think this is just a ploy to force the UFT back to the table in regard to the new teacher evaluation scheme. I can't imagine Bloomberg being ok with putting another 500-1000 teachers into the ATR pool. The thing that mad me the maddest is the outright lie that salary would not be a factor in determining who stays. Does anyone else have any more information on this farce known as turnaround?
