It's because the public DOES NOT KNOW what is really happening. Just as we don't know the problems a fire house or specific precint faces or what the politics of working within a hospital truly are like. The public have their own problems to worry about, and I can truly understand that. What we need to do is spread the word to family, post some links to blogs like this one on your facebook. Copy some articles and distribute them to teachers at work who may still be "living under a rock." Ask your CL what specifically the union is doing to combat the lack of truth that is being spread. We need to all make our voice heard - even in small ways.

'why would Harvard take him to be an educational leader when he couldn't achieve tenure?' simple, they like the $$$$ from a fool who thinks of himself highly and very competent in all things related to Education.

How many of the DeFormers were high level, extremely effect teacher for a decade or more? Most, if not all of them have less than half a decade of experience teaching lowly grades and now they come around and dictate policy....This country is going the way of the dinosaur....as if the same sort of nonsense was allowed in other fields, we would have people who have watch the entire re runs of "ER" being our surgeons in hospitals everywhere.

Today's NYTimes gives a whole article on 100 teachers signing a signature to both the union and the city to follow the RTTT mandate. I did not have to read the next sentence because I knew they were E4E teachers. E4E gets this free publicity from the Times based on 100!!!!!! And who helps fund E4E, none other than Bill Gates!! Will the Times print a story is hundreds of thousands of teachers sign a petition telling the union and city that using tests to measure a teacher's performance has been proven to be bogus??? Would the editors allow such a story since it doesn't jive with their reform agenda??

Maybe schools of the future will be in a big warehouse with no walls. Just a big open space with tens of learning areas sprinkled throughout. All this with a principal high over the learning din in one of those NYPD "observation risers".
