Pos...what exactly are you breaking to me gently? That every attempt to reform our education system has failed? Well, duh! Our education system has failed, not because our educators, politicians, and reformers are incompetent or evil, but because our culture has greatly compromised the ability of our young people to exploit the educational opportunities provided by the taxpayers. What percentage of our K-12 students are truly engaged in school? Honing one's intellect takes work--hard work. And most of our K-12 students lack the stomach for that grueling effort. We could double what we spend on public education and do little better than we do now. Sadly, we could also halve our spending on public education and do little worse than we do now.

Falcon...let me break it to you gently...all of the new teachers...and the new mini-schools...and charter schools....and a billion dollars wasted on consultants,scandals, and the like...all of the pronouncements,methods, and strategies employed by mayoral control...and the brilliant Bill Gates...and the closing of schools...and everything else Bloomberg, Duncan, Obama, etc....have produced NADA improvements on any level...NADA...in fact things are getting worse...

When it comes to public education, public school teachers are as much in the one-percent crowd as Arne Duncan, Bill Gates, and the Wal-Mart family. The AFT and the NEA constantly remind the ninety-nine percenters how vital public school teachers are to educational outcomes, but then they (the AFT and the NEA) do everything in their power to stop the measurement of the supposedly awesome teaching skills of their members. The AFT and the NEA loathe accountability. All they want is the ninety-nine percenters to shut up and obediently feed the education-industrial complex. Where's the occupy crowd when you need them?
