Mayor Bloomberg is closing a bunch of day-care centers and moving affected kindergarteners into public schools. After all, public schools have plenty of space, and parents can always leave their kids in the car during the hours the day cares used to cover. Sure, they should open the windows a crack, and maybe leave a bowl of water in case they get thirsty.
